7th Asia Pacific Conference on Clinical Nutrition
The conference was organised in Bangkok on 5-9 June 2011. Sensus presented a poster with the title "Native inulin shows prebiotic effects in infants of different age" (poster 199). It contained an overview of all data obtained in Sensus sponsored studies of the prebiotic effects in infants aged about 12 weeks, 3 months and 7-8 years showing that native inulin (Frutafit HD or IQ) works well to obtain a bifidogenic response in these infants. It might thus be an interesting alternative for other prebiotics that are currently added to infant food. Click here to download the abstract of the poster.
EFSA communication about inulin claims
The Netherlands, 5 July 2011 - On June 30th EFSA communicated its opinion on all inulin and oligofructose related article 13 generic health claims. It was concluded that inulin and oligofructose are not sufficiently characterised based on the presented data. However EFSA did not comment specifically on the claimed health effects. Read more

World Dairy 2011
On January 25-26 World Dairy 2011 was organised in London. During this meeting about 15 speakers presented various aspects of the global dairy industry. Diederick Meyer highlighted the use of inulin and oligofructose emphasizing the features relevant for dairy products aimed at weight management. Read more
